Barrett's esophagus

Article Abstract:

Barrett's is associated with an increased risk of cancer of the esophagus. Chronic long-term heartburn is a symptom of gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD), which can lead to Barrett's esophagus. Prescription drugs for GERD are mentioned.

The patch clamp technique

The patch clamp technique is a simple method of isolating ion channels, which help transmit signals among and within cells. The method involves sealing a pipette against a neuron's surface.
