Better osteoporosis management a priority

Article Abstract:

The health and financial impact of growing rates of osteoporosis in the United States could be astonishing unless a combined effort is made to prevent, identify and treat the condition. There are improved techniques for identifying patients at high risk, and physicians are more aware of the risks associated with drugs therapies that treat osteoporosis.

Silence masks prevalence of fecal incontinence

Article Abstract:

Fecal incontinence is one of the most common problems found in older women, but very few people with this problem seek help from their physicians, thereby making it difficult to assess how common the problem is. The interventions that are available to help improve patient's bowel control and quality of life are discussed.

Massage during last weeks of pregnancy reduces episiotomies during delivery

Article Abstract:

A simple, patient- or partner-administered perineal massage during the final weeks of pregnancy can reduce the likelihood of episiotomy during vaginal delivery. The benefits and limitations of perineal massage are discussed.
