Biomarkers for exposure to ambient air pollution- comparison of carcinogen- DNA adduct levels with other exposure markers and markers for oxidative stress

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the impact of environmental genotoxins found in air pollution on the risk of lung cancer in urban areas. Two occupational groups with high risk of exposure to ambient air pollution were examined for mutagenicity in urine, protein and DNA adducts, chromosomal aberrations, oxidative stress, and early biological effects.

The adverse effect of low levels of ambient air pollutants on lung function growth in preadolescent children

Article Abstract:

Low concentrations of ambient air pollution have been found to adversely affect lung function growth in preadolescent children in Krakow, Poland. Height velocity and other possible confounders were considered, as well as possible effects of indoor pollutants and social class.

Short-term effect of ozone on the pulmonary function of children in primary school

Article Abstract:

Studies on Taiwanese children confirm that lung function decreases during exposure to ambient air pollution. Ozone was found to be the most significant factor.
