Exposure to indoor background radiation and urinary concentrations of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine, a marker of oxidative DNA damage

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the relationship between exposure to indoor gamma radiation and radon on DNA damage, measured in the form of increased urinary concentrations of 8-hydroxydeoxyguanosine (8-OHdG). Findings suggest that indoor radioactivity is positively correlated with levels of (8-OHdG), and appear higher in females, possibly influenced by longer time spent indoors.

The when, where, and how of environmental hazards

Article Abstract:

Scientists discuss the merits of various methods and models for predicting environmental harm. Many propose creating partnerships between policy makers and scientists, and depending on extensive geological research, for the selecting of nuclear waste dumps, and the mediation of similar environmental hazards and polluting activities.
