Biomedical journals probe peer review

Article Abstract:

Several editors and publishers of scientific and biomedical journals, researchers, and others gathered for the Fifth International Congress on Peer Review and Biomedical Publication to consider ways to improve the standard of published data and safeguard against dissemination of false and potentially dangerous information to researchers, physicians, and the public. Recent efforts to improve the quality of clinical research and publication include urging clinical trial registration.

Researchers probe lupus causes, treatments

Article Abstract:

Researchers disclose some of the factors affecting the autoimmune disease systemic lupus erythematosus, including the disease onset, severity and remission. The current treatment strategies for systemic lupus include nonsteroidal antiinflammatory drugs, immunosuppresives, corticosteroids and antimalarial agents. Scientists are developing ways to design targeted therapies that are more effective that the current treatments.
