Cancer stem cells

Article Abstract:

Research findings support the concept that cells with the properties of stem cells are integral to the development and perpetuation of several forms of human cancer. A discussion on the properties of cancer stem cells includes a brief outline of initial therapeutic strategies against them as well as the future challenges for therapy targeted against these cells.

Bugging tumors to put drugs on target

Article Abstract:

A study presents a different perspective on tumor-targeted drugs, namely, using the bacterium Clostridium novyi-NT to release liposomal drugs within the tumor. The study offers new possibilities for cancer therapy through increased liposomal lytic activity and drug release within tumors.
