Feeling the bosses' collars

Article Abstract:

Focus is on issues that HSE tells inspectors to address when considering prosecution of directors, senior manager or other individuals under sections 8, 36 or 37 of the Act. This is a risk watch in aid of public interest, and section 36 allows prosecution of the boss without necessarily prosecuting the author.

Giving employees respect

Article Abstract:

A package of employee rights is presented to highlight the need for health and safety management to accept employment policies and practices in stress reduction programmes. For this the legislation that aims to help avoid stressful conflict between work and family commitments is focused.

Bullying as a form of violence in the workplace and its adverse effects on employee health are discussed. The article describes the most common kinds of bullying and the behaviour profile of a bully.
