Case 34-2006: A 72-year old woman with nausea followed by hypotension and respiratory failure

Article Abstract:

A case study of a 72-year-old woman admitted to hospital with nausea that worsened during 24-hour period due to respiratory failure and hypotension is presented. The case illustrates some of the special consideration in diagnosis and management of coronary artery disease in women which include assessment of the risk of coronary artery disease, stress testing, atypical presentations of coronary artery disease, treatment of myocardial infarction and its timing, and secondary prevention.

Case 15-2005: An 80-year old man with shortness of breath, edema, and proteinuria

Article Abstract:

An 80-year-old man was admitted into hospital because he was suffering from shortness of breath, pleural effusions, edema of the legs, history of atrial fibrillation, congestive heart failure, and increasing protienuria. The laboratory studies revealed a nephrotic-range proteinuria and an IgG paraprotein, after which a diagnostic procedure was performed.
