Case 39-2006: A 24-yera-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus, seizures, and right arm weakness

Article Abstract:

A 24-year-old woman diagnosed with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) in 2000 was admitted to hospital because of seizures and a lesion in the brain and pain and weakness in her right arm. A discussion on the diagnosis of granulomatous amebic encephalitis due to acanthamoeba species, together with management of the disease, is presented.
