Cervical wet mount as a negative predictor for gonococci- and Chlamydia trachomatis-induced cervicitis in a gravid population

Article Abstract:

Doctors who find 10 or fewer polymorphonuclear lymphocytes during a microscopic examination of a woman's cervical fluid can be fairly confident that she does not have chlamydia or gonorrhea. Examining biological specimens on a microscope slide is called a wet mount, and this technique could be much cheaper than blood cultures. This was confirmed in a study of 341 women.

Buccal misoprostol to prevent hemorrhage at cesarean delivery: A randomized study

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to assess the efficacy of buccal misoprostol to decrease uterine atony, hemorrhage, and the need for additional uterotonic agents during cesarean delivery. Buccal misoproposal reduces the need for additional uterotonic agents during cesarean delivery.

A randomized controlled trial comparing oxytocin administration before and after placental delivery in the prevention of postpartum hemorrhage

Article Abstract:

Oxytocin can reduce the risk of postpartum hemorrhage to the same degree whether it is given before or after the placenta detaches. If given before, it does not appear to increase the risk of a retained placenta.
