Charity-run clinic plan highlights unmet health needs of vulnerable

Article Abstract:

The effective delivery of health care to vulnerable people is an area that has traditionally seen voluntary organizations link up with health care providers to make sure people are able to access services. Medicines due Monde UK (MDM), the British arm of global charity is awaiting approval from the Healthcare Commission for a scheme that could see it working with Tower Hamlets Primary Care Trust to provide to health care for homeless people, refugees, and street sex workers.

The rise of the community matron

Article Abstract:

The government of United Kingdom has finally agreed to create a new nursing specialism of community matron, to deliver a more efficient and comprehensive service to patients with severe conditions. Community matron are likely to have an average caseload of 50-80 patients and their main role is to manage chronic diseases, to prevent needless hospital admissions, thereby ensuring the government meets its target of reducing emergency beds by five percent by 2008.

Newly qualified nurses face tough times in a crowded job market

Article Abstract:

Newly qualified nurses across England cannot find jobs as the trusts are facing financial difficulties due to overspending on their budgets and so many are freezing vacant posts and closing wards to bring their finances back under control in 2005. Overseas nurses on D-grade bands are not able to progress, which means that newly qualified nurses cannot get jobs.
