Child care crisis especially acute for women doctors

Article Abstract:

Women physicians have a difficult time managing child care and their careers at the same time. Good licensed day care facilities often have long waiting lists, and unlicensed providers can be illegal or unethical. Sometimes female physicians are forced to compromise their work schedules to accommodate day care, thereby limiting their career opportunities. Child-care problems require valuable energy from physicians that can be better invested in medicine.
