Chronic loss of subcutaneous adipose tissue in HIV-associated lipodystrophy may not be associated with accelerated apoptosis

Article Abstract:

The rate of apoptosis in subcutaneous adipose tissue (SAT) with a sensitive ligase-mediated polymerase chain reaction technique to amplify DNA ladders is examined. It is concluded that HIV-related chronic loss of SAT might not always be associated with increased frequency of adipocyte apoptosis.

Article Abstract:

Women with HIV infection may not comply with a doctor's order to have a colposcopy if their Pap smear is abnormal. Colposcopy is used together with an abnormal Pap smear to diagnose cervical cancer or its precursor.
