Phase II placebo-controlled trial of fozivudine tidoxil for HIV infection: pharmacokinetics, tolerability, and efficacy

Article Abstract:

Fozivudine tidoxil may be as effective as zidovudine for treating HIV infection and better tolerated, according to a study of 72 HIV patients. The drug is a derivative of zidovudine that can be taken once a day.

Clinical, biologic, and behavioral predictors of early immunologic and virologic response in HIV-infected patients initiating protease inhibitors

Article Abstract:

HIV patients who comply with their protease inhibitor treatment are the most likely to achieve low viral levels, according to a study of 750 patients. A good immune response can occur even in those who are not completely compliant, but it may not last.

The dynamic of adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy: results from the French national APROCO cohort

Article Abstract:

HIV patients who always take their AIDS drugs when they should are the ones most likely to have a good response to therapy. This was the conclusion of a study of 436 HIV patients, of whom only 31% always took their drugs when they were supposed to.
