Collaboration hopes microbe factories can supply key antimalaria drug

Article Abstract:

The Institute for OneWorld Health, Amyris Biotechnologies Inc. and the University of California are collaborating for applying a break-through technology to the production of the antimalarial drug artemisinin. A $4.6 million grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation would help the three organizations in curing malaria in developing countries.

Health care delivery in the Texas prison system: The role of academic medicine

Article Abstract:

The inmates in Texas prison were facing the problem of deficiencies in pervasive health care delivery system. The state of Texas implemented a novel correctional managed health care program to improve all the medical, dental and psychiatric care for the prisoners.
