Columbua/HCA nixes construction of new pediatric hospital

Article Abstract:

Columbia/HCA Healthcare Corp has decided not to construct a new pediatric hospital in El Paso, TX, although it already has two acute care facilities in the city. A separate pediatric facility was not needed in El Paso in 1998 as there was insufficient subspecialty demand and Columbia/HCA did not want to compete with other services. However, the company said it may look into reconsidering the issue in several years.
