Comparing the effects of physical practice and mental imagery rehearsal on learning basic surgical skills by medical students

Article Abstract:

The effects of varying the amount of physical practice and mental imagery rehearsal on learning basic surgical procedures are investigated in a study. Results demonstrate that after initial instruction and a session of monitored physical practice, mental imagery rehearsal was as effective as physical practice in learning surgical skills by medical students.

The impact of endometrial ablation technique at a large university women's hospital

Article Abstract:

The effect of ThermaChoice uterine balloon system on the practice patterns of endometrial ablations performed at a large university-based teaching hospital is determined. It is found that second-generation endometrial ablation technologies represent frequently utilized and proficient treatment modalities for dysfunctional uterine bleeding.

Focused assessment of surgical performance: Difficulty with faculty compliance

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to evaluate faculty compliance in the use of global surgical rating scale to rate resident surgical performance after every endoscopic procedure. It was found that faculty member compliance with case-by-case surgical performance evaluation of residents was very low.
