Construction safety: what every business owner should know

Article Abstract:

Business owners can safeguard workers on construction sites and avoid any liabilities when accidents happen by hiring a safety-conscious contractor. Questions concerning job safety and training should be asked during pre-bid meetings until the completion of the work. How the contractor resolves to demonstrate and implement a safety program should also be understood from the onset. Moreover, owners must require a contractor to present documents, such as Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) injury rates, and OSHA citations, to assess a contractor's safety-worthiness.

Article Abstract:

Safety matrices have several business applications that include administering gap analyses, benchmarking, and assesing progress and improvement. They can also be used by safety managers to determine the efficiency of a company's overall management system and identify the strengths and weaknesses of organizational safety programs, compliance programs and safety processes. Three basic types of matrices are widely used by companies. These include the system or process matrix, program matrix, and attitude and perception survey matrix.
