Contested cases get a fair strike

Article Abstract:

The Occupational Safety and Health Review Commission (OSHRC) was created to serve as an adjucatory body for constested Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) cases. It follows two levels of adjucation. The corps of administrative law judges (ALJs) is responsible for conducting hearings and deciding on OSHA cases. The panel of commissioners, on the other hand, review and decide on JLA decisions appealed by employers, employee representatives or the Labor Secretary. In its pursuit of protecting all parties' rights and interests, the OSHRC has always maintained that its adjucation of cases should be done fairly and expeditiously.

Article Abstract:

The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has published an updated version of its 1981 'Work Practices Guide for Manual Lifting.' The new guidelines put greater emphasis on evaluation of repetitive and asymmetric lifting tasks that workers do not perform directly in front of their bodies. The new version also considers objects that do not come with adequate handles. The revised documents also include the 1991 Scientific Literature Review, an Ergonomics Article and a User's Guide.
