Coordinate approach to physician practice data

Article Abstract:

Revealing hospital and physician practice mortality rates can aid physicians, hospitals, regulators and patients, but the information must be disseminated sensitively. Addressing the data as a joint responsibility of hospital management and medical personnel can help ease the difficulties presented by making it public. Social factors, such as the relationship between hospital management and physicians, must also be considered. Finally, although extensive data is kept on physicians and hospitals, revealing inaccurate data can have disastrous consequences.
