Correlates of self-reported nonadherence to antiretroviral therapy in HIV-infected patients: The Swiss HIV cohort study

Article Abstract:

A 2-item adherence questionnaire was introduced into the Swiss HIV Cohort Study in July 2003 and all 3607 eligible patients were on ART for six months or more and their current regiment for over one month. Significant association was noticed between optimal viral suppression and nonadherence as well as a significant linear trend in optimal viral suppression by missed doses.

Highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) retreatment in patients on CD4-guided therapy achieved similar virologic suppression compared with patients on continuous HAART: The HIV Netherlands Australia Thailand research collaboration 001.4 study

Article Abstract:

The safety of 2 intermittent treatment strategies compared with continuous therapy for patients with virologic suppression on highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) at baseline is assessed. The results revealed that CD4-guided HAART is well-tolerated and cost-saving treatment strategy for patients with high pre-ARV and pre-STI CD4 counts.

How qualitative methods contribute to understanding combination antiretroviral therapy adherence

Article Abstract:

The appropriate qualitative methods are reviewed to provide an overview of the qualitative research on antiretroviral therapy (ART) nonadherence. ART adherence is critical to successful treatment of HIV and is a central component of the experience of living with HIV.
