Cost-effectiveness of implantable cardioverter-defibrillators

Article Abstract:

The cost-effectiveness of an implantable cardioverter-defibrillator (ICD) in population represented in initial prevention trials is examined. The results display a cost-effectiveness ratio below $100,000 per quality-adjusted life-years (QALY) for prophylactic insertion of an ICD in populations, which show a noticeable device-connected decrease in mortality.

The effect of cardiac resynchronization on morbidity and mortality in heart failure

Article Abstract:

Cardiac resynchronization improves symptoms and the quality of life and also reduces complications and the risk of death among patients with heart failure and cardiac dyssynchrony. The implantation of a cardiac-resynchronization device should routinely be considered in such patients.
