Cuts herald return to boom and bust

Article Abstract:

The UK Faculties for Nursing have slashed ten to twenty-five percent of places on pre-registration nursing in the year 2006, which equates to approximately 3,000 new nursing students. Nurse educators are warning that cuts in pre-registration training will see a continuation of the boom-and-bust cycle of nurse staffing, while the health authorities justify the move due to budget cuts and to balance the NHS account books.
