Cyclic ADP-ribose production by the CD38 regulates intracellular calcium release, extracellular calcium influx and chemotaxis in neutrophils and is requited for bacterial clearance 'in vivo'

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the role of glycoprotein CD38 in promoting the production of cyclic ADP-ribose (cADPR), which in turn helps regulate calcium in the body. Findings suggest that cADPR also regulates chemotaxis in neutrophils and is implicated in the inflammatory immune process.

NO vascular control in Duchenne muscular dystrophy

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the pathogenesis of Duchenne muscular dystrophy, focusing on how a lessening of muscle membrane-associated neuronal nitric oxide synthase may contribute to muscle degeneration. Topics addressed include cellular control mechanisms and vascular impairment.

Functional small-diameter neovessels created using endothelial progenitor cells expanded ex vivo

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the endothelial progenitor cells. The ability of these cells to replace the arterial endothelial cells and to promote patency in v-engineered small-diameter blood vessels has been investigated and discussed.
