Deal creates lead cloning company

Article Abstract:

The Roslin Institute, the government research center in the UK that created Dolly, a cloned sheep, has sold its Roslin Bio-Med to Geron (California). The deal brings together three key technologies needed for human tissue cloning, the human pluripotent cells and telomerase technology of Geron, and the nuclear transfer technology of Roslin. More intellectual property will be needed to have all the technology to produce cloned therapeutic tissue. Geron is to provide GBP 10 mil over 6 years for the stem cell project and GBP 2.5 mil for the animal research program of the Roslin Inst.
