Differences in the relationship between body fat and body mass index between two different Indonesian ethnic groups: the effect of body build

Article Abstract:

Indonesians have higher body fat percent at lower body mass index values than Caucasians, according to research designed to test the view that differences in body build can cause differences in the body mass index/body fat percent relationship. This research was undertaken among two Indonesian population groups of different ethnic origin. It was also possible to identify differences among different Indonesian subgroups, possibly caused by differences in skeletal mass and inherent muscle mass/connective tissue mass.
