Disseminating research findings on women's smoking to health practitioners: findings from an evaluation study

Article Abstract:

A UK project which researched cigarette smoking amongst working class women with children included a dissemination element. The dissemination phase was considered important because the UK health system is recognized as having a weakness in the dissemination and application of research-based findings. Researchers designed an information pack which was accessible and relevant to health care practitioners working with pregnant women or women with young children. An evaluation phase revealed that the pack had been effective in increasing knowledge of smoking issues and smoking cessation work amongst both practitioner and student groups.

A summary of the research methods used to bring together information material available on arthritis is presented.

Evaluation in community development for health: an opportunity for dialogue

Article Abstract:

There are currently very mixed views on approaches to evaluation in community development for health (CDH). It has now become vital to address the issues surrounding the definition of evaluation, as this will have an impact on the public health movement as a whole. Recent research has looked particularly at moves towards pluralistic approaches to evaluation.
