Drivers: avoid drugs to stay alert

Article Abstract:

Citizens Against Drug Impaired Driving co-founder Karen Tarney states that 40-60% of all drivers arrested for impaired driving have one or more drugs in their systems. Tarney also stresses that over-the-counter and prescription drugs are as dangerous for drivers as illegal drugs. She adds that work-related drug-impaired driving can create serious problems for companies, especially with regards to liability exposures. She urges chief executives to create a corporate culture that does not tolerate drug use and drug-impaired driving.

Steele also cited clear-air turbulence and disruptive passenger behavior as the two biggest safety issues outside of crashes that are frequently encountered by airlines.
