Effects of Atorvastatin of Early Recurrent Ischemic Events in Acute Coronary Syndromes: A Randomized Controlled Trial

Article Abstract:

The cholesterol-lowering drug atorvastatin may reduce the risk of recurring ischemia in the first few months after a heart attack or unstable angina, according to a study of 3,086 patients. Ischemia occurs when part of the body does not receive enough blood.

High-dose atorvastatin vs usual-dose simvastatin for secondary prevention after myocardial infarction

Article Abstract:

The effects of two strategies of lipid lowering on the risk of cardiovascular disease among patients with a previous myocardial infarction (MI) are compared. Results reveal that patients with MI might benefit from intensive lowering of low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) without an increase in noncardiovascular mortality or other serious adverse reactions.
