Elevated levels of fibroblast growth factor-2 in serum from women with endometriosis

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to determine whether serum and peritoneal fluid levels of fibroblast growth factor-2 (FGF-2) differ between women with and without endometriosis and to examine the relationship between proliferative activity in the endometriotic lesions and the levels of FGF-2 in serum and peritoneal fluid. The result showed that women with endometriosis have a higher serum level of FGF-2 than healthy controls.

Human endometriotic xenografts in immunodeficient RAG-2/gamma(c) KO mice

Article Abstract:

A study is presented to extend the RAG-2/gamma(c) KO mice xenograft system to studies of human endometriosis to create a graft model for the same. It is concluded that human endometriosis transplanted into RAG-2/gamma(c)KO mice can provide a model for endometriotic bleeding.

Laparoscopic removal of endometriomas: sonographic evaluation of residual functioning ovarian tissue

Article Abstract:

The extent of laparoscopic removal of ovarian endometriotic cysts as a tissue-sparing procedure is examined. Ovarian stripping of endometriomas results in a significant decline in the residual ovarian volume.
