Endometrial cells derived from donor stem cells in bone marrow transplant recipients

Article Abstract:

Uterine endometrine disorders lead to bleeding, infertility, pregnancy problems, endometriosis and sometimes cancer, but generation and growth of uterine endometrium is important in normal pregnancy and tests were conducted to find whether cells of extrauterine origin could repopulate the endometrium. The results show that endometrial cells can originate from donor-delivered bone marrow cells and non-uterine stem cells could help in regenerating endometrial tissue.

Viral encephalitis transmitted from donor to organ recipients

Article Abstract:

The clinical, neuroradiological, and pathological findings of rabies virus infection in organ transplant recipients infected from a common donor are described. The cases demonstrate a risk for transmitting rabies virus infection through solid organ and tissue transplantation, and this diagnosis should be considered in any rapidly progressing neurological disease.

Consensus Statement on the Live Organ Donor

Article Abstract:

People who want to donate an organ should be fully informed of the risks and benefits and be medically and psychologically stable. Initially, only kidneys were donated but as of 2000, people are donating portions of their liver, lung, small intestine and pancreas.
