Article Abstract:

After an inspection of nursing home records in Somerset, England revealed inadequate care planning and record keeping, a new system was created to improve recordkeeping. The new system was tested in 7 Somerset nursing homes that easy for nurses to use and allowed for careful documentation of care.

Reducing the incidence of falls and hip fractures in care homes

Article Abstract:

A pilot program to prevent hip fractures from falls in a British nursing home is described. Patients assessed as being at risk for falls wore pants with added hip-protection shells. Hip fractures were reduced using a program that combined the protective clothing with fall prevention management.
