Evaluating public health nursing

Article Abstract:

Evaluation of public health nursing is beneficial to nurses as well as the public. Evaluation looks at what a service is striving to achieve, how it does this, and how well it does it. Nurses undertaking evaluation need detailed knowledge of the population, of any problems revealed, and of common responses to these problems. Evaluation ensures that providers focus on the most needed and the most effective services, but it also proclaims the part which public health nurses play in the provision of the service.
