Extinct 1918 virus comes alive

Article Abstract:

The complete nucleotide sequence of the 1918 influenza virus genome is determined and the virus recreated from its gene sequences. The presence of ancient human T-cell lymphotropic virus type I provirus DNA in an Andean mummy

Article Abstract:

DNA sequences from human T-cell lymphotropic virus type I (HTLV-I) have been found in a Chilean mummy that is approximately 1,500 years old. This shows that Mongoloids from Asia carried the virus to South America in pre-colonial times.
