Farm center plants seeds for safety

Article Abstract:

Farmers belong to a relatively healthy industry, despite being ranked among those with high worker mortality rates. However, several health problems still exist in the agricultural sector, such as injury, low-back pain, hearing loss, respiratory conditions and skin diseases. The National Farm Medicine Center (NFMC) was established in 1981 to address these and several other health issues. NFMC Dir Paul Gunderson believes farm injuries can be prevented by changing farmer behavior and adopting appropriate engineering design.

Article Abstract:

Owners of microwave ovens should always remember to take precautionary measures whenever they use their units. Aside from keeping ovens clean and observing proper cooking times, it is important to use microwave-safe utensils and potholders, supervise children and follow cookbook and manual instructions. Users should also be wary of chemical migration, food explosions and burns. In addition, any damage or malfunctioning in the oven should be given immediate attention to avoid radiation leaks and other potential hazards.
