Finalized HIPAA security rule makes its long-awaited debut

Article Abstract:

The long-awaited security rule for the Health Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) of 1996 announced, allows more flexibility and discretion in deciding what security measures are necessary and achievable. Experts predict that this security planned proposed by The Department of Health and Human Services with its flexibility would ensure that the financial burden hence forth would be reasonable.

Don?t feat HIPAA police if rules deadline is missed

Article Abstract:

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services officials sought to calm doctors? concerns about HIPAA compliance by issuing a statement that the agency would not be seek out doctors who are not in compliance with the new patient information privacy law. However, the implication is to comply to avoid problems in the future.
