First aid for common injuries

Article Abstract:

Alton Thygerson's 'First Aid Pocket Guide' outlines effective first aid treatments to four typical injuries namely, dental injuries, fainting, head injury, and chemical exposure. A likely tooth loss could be averted by following the procedures for proper handling and reimplantation. Fainting could be treated through a restful and effective body posture for the unconscious victim while head injuries need direct area pressure for bleeding control. Chemical exposures must be treated early with low-pressure water on the exposed area.

Cell phones on the road: how safe are your drivers?

Article Abstract:

Opinions are sharply divided over the effects of using cellar or mobile phones on driving safety. The US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has published a report asserting that people who use such devices while driving are more likely to get into traffic accidents. However, the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety remains unconvinced that banning the cellular phone's use can contribute to better traffic safety. The organization believes more gains can be had by addressing seatbelt use and drunk driving.

Article Abstract:

Colon or colorectal cancer is the second-leading cause of cancer deaths for men and women in the US. Its common symptoms include blood in the stool, changes in bowel habits and stools that narrow in size. Doctors use several tests to screen for colon and rectal cancer. These include the fecal occult blood test, flexible sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy. Genetics, diet and exercise are also important factors to consider for colorectal cancer.
