Floor plan

Article Abstract:

Health professionals need an awareness of the detailed anatomy and physiology of the pelvic floor to give effective treatment for incontinence, prolapse and sexual dysfunction. The pelvic floor can be likened to a multi-layered trampoline which is pierced, in a woman, by three passageways passing through it. Dysfunction in the organs at the top of the passages, or in the resilience of the trampoline, will cause further problems in the functioning of the organs and passageways.

Urinary incontinence: Why women do not ask for help

Article Abstract:

The common female problem of urinary incontinence might leave those affected by the condition in social, emotional and mental disarray and hence health care professionals should be aware of their responsibility for identifying those who have not sought help for a continence-related problem. Health professionals should try to increase awareness at every opportunity so that women might feel free to discuss their problems and be able to resolve their urinary incontinence.
