Forestalling fibrosis

Article Abstract:

Blocking the activity of plasminogen activator inhibitor type 1 (PAI-1) may help prevent some types of kidney disease. PAI-1 prevents the formation of plasmin and other proteins that can contribute to kidney disease. One research group made a mutant form of PAI-1 that can block the activity of PAI-1. However, this did not completely prevent kidney disease.

Case 16-2005: A nine-year-old girl with headaches and hypertension

Article Abstract:

The physical examination of a nine-year-old girl who was admitted to a hospital because of headaches, enuresis, recent visual changes, and vomiting is presented. The finding suggest that the tumor is responsible for the Reno vascular changes in the right kidney and detecting this was important as it might be feasible to perform resecration.
