Giant cell arteritis

Article Abstract:

The inflammatory disorder that affects arteries, called giant cell arteritis, affects the lining of arteries in neck, head and arms, resulting in severe pain in the head, neck and shoulders. The erythrocyte sedimentation rate is a marker of inflammation and it is almost elevated with giant cell arteritis, and hence tissue biopsy is done to confirm this condition and can be treated with high doses of prednisone.
