Muscle strength of bodybuilders is not related to the physical dimension of their muscle fibers. It is associated with the intensity of the discharge of nerve impulses when bodybuilders execute their routines to develop total body power and mass.

High-volume bodybuilding workouts stimulate the endocrine system and result in increased production of growth hormone (GH). Increased levels of GH enhance metabolism and lead to an increase in muscle size and a decrease in body fat.

The testosterone-GH link

Article Abstract:

Research has found that exercise affects hormone release. Big muscle exercises can increase the release of testosterone. The production of growth hormone is also affected by exercise.
