Going head-to-head with the PM

Article Abstract:

Marion Brown, a staff nurse on an acute medical unit in Brighton brings up the problem of underpaid nurses and the less salary they receive which is posing a serious danger of alienating its nursing workforce and the pool of potential recruits. She appeared on a special Channel Five Programme called 'Talk to the Prime Minister' and asked the Prime Minister Tony Blair to take nursing issues in considerations.

Is critical care outreach proving to be a success?

Article Abstract:

Nurses are pioneers of critical care outreach and evidence of their success is helping others to make the case for changes in critical care delivery. Nurses are providing to be the drivers of change and local primary care trusts are asking nurses to show that critical care outreach is an effective way of delivering acute services with measurable outcomes for patients.

Nurses doubt there are enough staff to meet DoH cleaning goals

Article Abstract:

Strict standards on how often wards, furniture, and hospital equipment should be cleaned, and the level of cleanliness expected, were issued by the Department of Health, in a bid to lower rates of health care acquired infection. However, nurses' state that without extra cleaning staff they have 'serious doubts' the standards will be met.
