Good intentions may go up in smoke

Article Abstract:

Attempts to limit tobacco advertising in the UK since 1998 were projected to lower smoking rate, yet this program will not be successful unless nicotine replacement therapy becomes available to all smokers attempting to quit. Smoking rates among young people are increasing, and the most effective government response would be to ban all tobacco advertising.

The Children Act: Key points and implications for nursing

Article Abstract:

The key points of the Children Act 2004 and implications for practice, with particular regard to the patient assessment process and the links between adult behavior and child protection is described. It is suggested, that all nurses need to be aware of their responsibilities regarding child protection, whether they are working with children or adults.

Should assisted suicide be legalised?

Some observers feel certain circumstances suggest the best nursing practice is to help patients die swiftly and without pain. Others maintain the value of human life prevents assisted suicide from becoming morally justifiable.
