Government plays the numbers game

Article Abstract:

The latest NHS workforce data published two weeks ago by the NHS Information Centre does not match up with the information the Health Minister Lord Hunt announced that NHS full-time-equivalent (FTE) nurses increased by 2% last year. The accuracy of the figures is questioned as the staff at the Information Centre has found 'duplicate records'.

UK near top of league table for nurse attacks

Article Abstract:

The reasons and the outcomes of the existence of high rates of workplace violence on nurses in the U.K. are discussed. Lack of proper teamwork, night shifts and the increased time pressures are found to be the major factors that lead to such violence on nurses.

Nurse practitioners are 'missed opportunity.'(advocated use of emergency nurse practitioners; United Kingdom)

The United Kingdom's Audit Commission first called for the utilization of emergency nurse practioners five years ago. However, the commission's new report says that the practitioners are underused by hospitals.
