HIV-associated immune dysfunction and delayed pubertal development in a cohort of young hemophiliacs

Article Abstract:

The authors studied growth patterns of 333 hemophiliac boys and adolescents between six and 19 years old, most of whom had been infected with HIV. they determined that the progression of the HIV infection proportionately interfered with and delayed their onset of puberty and that this -- delay of puberty -- can be a key to estimating the rate of underlying development of the disease.
