HIV prevalence and predictors among rescued sex-trafficked women and girls in Mumbai, India

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted to examine the prevalence and predictors of HIV infection among sex-trafficked women and girls rescued from brothels in Mumbai, India. Results reveal the complexities of HIV vulnerability among young women trafficked for sex work and underscore the need for greater attention within research, surveillance, and programming to inclusion of younger sex workers and victims of sex trafficking so as to expand the state of knowledge and practice concerning the prevention of sex trafficking and HIV infection.

HIV prevalence and predictors of infection in sex-trafficked Nepalese girls and women

Article Abstract:

A study to determine the prevalence of HIV infection among repatriated sex-trafficked Nepalese girls and women is conducted. Results found that they had a higher prevalence of HIV infection, with increased risk if they were trafficked prior to age of 15 years.

Dating Violence Against Adolescent Girls and Associated Substance Use, Unhealthy Weight Control, Sexual Risk Behavior, Pregnancy, and Suicidality

Article Abstract:

Teenage girls who are abused by a boyfriend are more likely to develop an eating disorder, use cocaine, adopt unhealthy sexual behaviors, and attempt suicide. Surveys in 1997 and 1999 found that about 20% of the girls had been abused by a boyfriend.
