Ham radio gives physicians long reach

Article Abstract:

Ham radios have played an important role in enabling physicians to offer lifesaving instructions to those facing medical emergencies in remote places like the high seas or isolated rainforests. The Medical Amateur Radio Council (MARCO), which was founded in 1965, used ham radio to discuss and exchange medical and technical information. It conducts a 'Grand Rounds of the Air' over the radio allowing physicians to earn continuing medical education category II credits.
