Hand-assisted laparoscopic aorto-aortic bypass: initial experience in a porcine model

Article Abstract:

The feasibility and the learning curve, limitations and pitfalls of the HALS (hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery) technique to perform aortic reconstruction in a porcine model for training purposes are assessed. It is concluded that training on the porcine model may be safe and efficient to introduce surgeons to HAL for aortoiliac reconstruction.
