Health advice and immunizations for travelers

Article Abstract:

Doctors from the Massachusetts General Hospital's Travelers' Advice and Immunization Center and Toronto General Hospital's Centre for Travel and Tropical Medicine provide detailed advice for Americans who travel to other countries. Those most at risk include those traveling in off-tourist areas in developing countries, immunocompromised patients, pregnant women and children, people with existing medical conditions, and those who will live abroad for a long time. A list of Web sites that offer health advice for travelers is included.

Case 39-2005: A 63-year-old woman with a positive serologic test for syphilis and persistent eosinophilia

Article Abstract:

A case study of a 63-year old woman with a positive serologic test for syphilis and persistent peripheral-blood eosinophilia is presented. The treatment for latent syphilis is benzathine penicillin due to its extremely low solubility, which results in more prolonged blood levels than those of other penicillin preparations.
