Plugging the leaks

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the vascular leakage in inflammation which is dependent on neutrophils. The development of the anti-inflammatory drugs with a new action mechanism based on the permeability-enhancing activity produced by neutrophils is described.

Heparin-binding protein (HBP/CAP37): a missing link in neutrophil-evoked alteration of vascular permeability

Article Abstract:

Research has been conducted on the polymorphonuclear leukocyte. The involvement of the paracrine mechanism in neutrophil-evoked alteration in endothelial barrier function has been investigated and the results are reported.

Circulating activated platelets exacerbate atherosclerosis in mice deficient in apolipoprotein E

Article Abstract:

Research shows that formation of atherosclerotic lesions by the circulating activated platelets and platelet-leukocyte/monocyte aggregates is due to the platelet P-selectin-mediated delivery of platelet-derived proinflammatory factors onto monocytes/leukocytes and the blood vessel wall in apolipoprotein E deficient mice.
